Breast-cancer census in the Netherlands (BoB)
In the Netherlands, all women have right to a mammography every two years from their 50th birthday onwards (Breast X-ray).
The breast-cancer census also exists in other European countries.
In this way, it is possible to detect a tumour in its early stage.
Women without a residence permit do not receive an invitation letter. They can ask their family doctor. He/she will send them for an X-ray if he/she judges it necessary.
Thanks to this census, the number of women who die of breast-cancer has strongly decreased in the Netherlands.
